Humility - Pa.

If the daily news doesn’t break your heart you’re probably psychotic or at the least neurotically impaired. Another shooting, another stabbing, another sordid affair heard round the world. And we wonder what’s wrong with today’s youth! Quit wondering - their evolution is the direct result of our entertainment.

Love nips it in the bud. Love and love alone absolves the acrimonious tendency to abort humility and replace it with hubris. If the parents don’t show it - the children don’t know it… period. Example is the greatest teacher. Imprinting is intrinsically etched in our heart’s template - and the mind reads this tome irrespective to ramification. The heart’s function is to employ the mind’s faculties - it’s an agency of symbiotic fruition.

A feckless leader
Student’s of woe
The world at bay
Love unites - Pa.

There are names that rankle our souls every time we here them spoken. I won’t mention any particular names here because it would incriminate innocent people. But just the mention of certain people is grating - it’s a special form of synesthesia that I’m coining as: Moronomatopoeia (derived from onomatopoeia).

When I hear that so-and-so is on the phone I cringe. There’s no guilt involved - just a genuinely putrid feeling of why, Why, WHY? Name, name go away, call back another day. Preferably on my day off! We have nothing to talk about because you have nothing worth hearing, nothing worth saying and certainly nothing worth my time and energy being wasted on your blasted blah, blah, blah blah blah. Shut the #@&%-up! NOW!

And don’t ask me to call back - I’d rather wet my pants at work.

Integrity is the solution to every problem
Edification is the rite to every passage - Pa.

You reap what you sow… that old saw has pruned more white lies than Jimmy Swaggart has told. Amen. But do we yet understand this understated euphemism?

Most people I know and/or read about are waiting for the answers to the world’s problems to magically appear. Look, there it is… not!

Let’s wake up to the fact that we created this problem and we can resolve this problem. We can uncreate our choices - that is to say, we can change what we’ve already done and we can change what we are doing, thereby creating a more promising future.

I also hear all the time that love is the answer - and I agree. But love is just another four letter word if it’s not supported by integrity (ask Jimmy Swaggart). Integrity is the staple by which words and actions become one. And that accounts for proper functioning and rites of passage. Nothing can change as many things as fast or as positively as integrity.

Who act’s with integrity is impervious to insult - Pa.

Who love’s with integrity intimates God - Pa.

Do not be taken under-wing by the flightless - Pa.

Promises, promises, promises. Are they word’s to the wise - or a guise worth their weight in fool’s gold. Does it depend on commitment, conviction or coercion. So many variables that it’s vanity to presume even the slightest presumption of verity. So why is ALC a lousy choice?

ALC is a company - publicly traded and privately scorned*. Details, details, details - do tell! It depends on contracts - remember, what’s documented is legally done… it’s legally binding… it’s legally criminal. What would OJ do**? There’s the counsel with all the answers. What would OJ do - stab them in the back! That’s probable cause for legal pause - but it’s all in the contractual clause.

Yes, it depends on commitment - the employee’s must believe they’re doing the right thing.
Yes, it depends on conviction - the company must convince the employees to do the right thing.
And yes, it depends on coercion - you must fool yourself to believe that anyone is fooling you!

Do not spill your guts before cannibals - Pa.

*Privately scorned by the senior residents who were promised that they could “age in place” after their private funds ran out (stating that they could roll-over, or convert, to Medicaid funding and maintain their residency). ALC has since revoked it’s promise and is evicting residents from their care facilities around the country - this after their private pay funds are depleted, leaving these seniors with no safe haven. It’s been said that the company president told an Administrator to drop off a Medicaid resident at the hospital and leave them there, abandoned and homeless (ALC does not stand for A Loving Company!).

**What would OJ do? This is not yet a published book - but there are many people already guilty of copycat crimes.

ALC

Loopholes are often little more than public arenas by which we engage in litigious combat. What better way to draw an audience - what better way to mock tribal warfare than with histrionic demonstrations of effusive palliation.

All this to say ‘What the f@#%’. Loophole’s lack closure. Society is as pocked as it is mocked by this civil-combat. The biggest problem is that the best person doesn’t always win. Athletics fall back on repechage to constitute fair play. But the law falls down before the highest bidder - that’s more contractual than constitutional.

All this rigamarole allows people to get away with murder - but not revenge. It allows impostor’s to dethrone champions in courts of law operated by unlawful citizens. And this cuts to the quick of social order, hastening the demise of fair play. Foul is a four-letter word!

A society of cheaters is akin corrupt authority (nepotism by-law) - Pa.

A world afoul it’s own absurdity courts it’s own demise - Pa.

Watch children play - where are their time outs, where are their breaks, where are their stopping points? They’re oblivious to the rules, the regulations and the rituals. They’re exercising God’s rite of expression - they’re having FUN… and they’re right!

FUN: Function Underscores Novelty. Boring people fail to express novelty - they fail to function at a higher level than the given standard. People that are having fun are growing, most often unbeknownst to them. Fun engages our sense of innovation, initiation and inspiration. The failure to have fun is grossly injurious to our imagination (and makes life imminently dull and desistant).

JOB: Just Outside Bankruptcy

Maybe you will - maybe you won’t. Most of the people I know are <del dateTime="2008-08-17T22:32:38+00:00">slowly</del> quickly falling behind because of inflation - not for lack of personal or professional incentive. We all seem to be working more and more (I work on average 15-20 hours of unpaid OT a week - it’s the diminishing return of being a salaried employee), and enjoying work less and less every day. Rare are the days I look forward to working anymore…

People used to brag about how much they worked. Then they bragged about how much they made at work. Now people brag about making money - not working. I don’t hear people bragging about how much they enjoy work and I want to hear from people that enjoy their line of work!

Working a job instead of a career path is a dead end course of action. It leads you in all the wrong directions based on all the wrong decisions. Yes, most of us need to work - but fill that need with something you want out of life, a passion, a pastime, a pleasure… for profit!

Success is a life well spent… and a life well spent save’s one from ruin - Pa.

There is no such thing as a one-sided tug-of-war - Pa.

Subtle resistance is often harder to overcome than blatant refusal. Subtle, manipulative satrapies* and their subreptive shenanigans are despicable. They are vile, vain and insidiously vicious.

I sure like it when a company repeatedly admonishes it’s employees to ” …forget blame” and just move on as though this insult added to the injury of the situation was your fault - and as a quiet aside threaten your welfare for uncovering their negligence.

I think an apology is due, past due. The old guard is accountable for the circumstances they created. Authority that doesn’t accept responsibility has no business minding other people’s business - professionally or personally. And as an aside - they need to move aside. Their bottoms are exposed through the glass ceiling on which they sit, but their shit doesn’t stink - it’s just where everyone else’s career hits the skids… (skid row is a boardroom full of OGREs).

It’s common knowledge in the business world that employees quit because of their supervisor’s lack of leadership more than for the lack of compensatory wages. This knowledge ought to prompt investigations - not insinuations, innuendoes and internecine politics. Turnover is a tell-tell sign of incompetence - not a signal for more systems. Systems cannot surrogate leadership. The best method of putting out fires is to prevent fires! True leadership obviates losses - without the martyrdom of ersatz heroics.

What I see is Munchausen by proxy (MSBP) in a business suit. An ill fit supervisor creating disorder to gain attention - attention pointing away from gross incompetencies. And who better to mange the recovery of said situation than said supervisor. It’s an IOU: Inculpable Ogre’s Umbrage!

It’s not enough to put your cards on the table - turn them over! Pa

Supervisors should not be confused with superiors - Pa.

*A subordinate bureaucrat or official

Olympic fantasies come and go every 4-years, and although I’m well past that prime, there is a primal urge to prove one’s worth - on the battlefield. The boardroom gets boring with all the soft bodies and hard chairs. Give me the beauty of kinesthetics, aesthetics and athletics.

Next year I’ll be eligible to compete in the Senior Olympics. And it’s just for fun… right! We’ll see as I start training passively and progress into competitive shape, which means that I’ve got about 25-pounds to shake before they’re shed. Ouch! Thankfully, cycling is easy on the joints. And I’ll primarily train for the time trials - which in cycling vernacular means: race of truth. They’re only 5 & 10K for the seniors, which is a helluva long sprint - akin to running a mile in regards to pacing.

This is gonna hurt… so good! I’ll keep you posted…
