P-P & L

Too many businesses rely on their P&L’s - that’s a Profit and Loss statement in layman’s terms. We see numbers and create equations to accommodate desired results - by virtue of numbers, not prosperity. This dilemma is destroying the economy as it rewards short term gains over stable growth, much akin to losing weight at the expense of overall health. This cycle runs it’s course until there is an imminent collapse of sustainable gain - then the fun begins as the business attempts to cut losses by placing absurd demands on it’s employees and customers.
Ever try to lose weight the wrong way, by cutting out this and that and showing immediate results that backfire in time - and then repeat that same cycle, over and over and over again as though the wrong way will lead to the right results? Millions upon millions of people do this every year - so too businesses. This results at all costs mentality is costing us everything - our health and our wealth are being squandered ignominiously.
Employee welfare is subject to market value, i.e., to profit - not prosperity. And the real kicker is that when a business of such irascible temperament fails - the CEO gets handed a big fat compensation package while the rest go hungry. Grossly overweight parents and starving children don’t make for a pretty picture - we call that abuse in the civilized world (especially to think that peace is prosperity’s child - no wonder we’re sill starving for peace!).
America and the world at large need a new index for success - I suggest Integrity: an index of how the parent business is managing the employee’s welfare. Can the employee’s afford food, housing, gas - health insurance? We’re only as strong as our weakest link… WAKE-UP!
