A great meal can cap off a great day by capturing it’s effervescence.

Dining outside by a river makes for an exquisite setting. Throw in a cool breeze, a warm sun and an even-tempered family, and you’ve seasoned the day with impeccable taste. It’s hard to see anything other than beauty on a beautiful day.

The food at Sweetwater Lounge is good - bordering on very good. A less intoxicating day would be necessary to accurately sample their victuals. Too bad their service is lacking - literally. They were obviously, and painfully, short of wait staff. Our server was kind and competent, but hurried and somewhat harried by the table beside ours on the outdoor patio overlooking the Willamette River. But what threatened to sour our Sweetwater experience, was the older couple that were turned away from their anniversary dinner - angrily. PLEASE… if you cannot accommodate them now - give them a complimentary ticket to return and celebrate their joy with you! Please - think outside the box. We give box cutters to stockers but not management? I get it - the boardroom is a house of cards… a card-boardroom!

All in all: Sweetwater Lounge has an excellent location with great food but needs to hire some good help (starting with the general management and ending with the service staff as top-down is more functional than bottom-up when upgrading work cultures).

Hospitality is service on the level - not affectation’s ramped-up or run-down.
