A Jerome Bixby movie Starring David Lee Smith as a 14,000 year old Cro-Magnon man….
Imagine immortality, living forever - at least into an endless future. Try explaining that to a few close friends and colleagues. This is the conundrum John Oldman faces as the 14,000 year old Man from Earth. And of course, along the way you explain history from a fairly radical viewpoint - as an eye witness.
This is an interesting proposition to consider - not reincarnation or resurrection, but recrudescence. This is a property I once posited in the figure of Jesus - and all humans as an innate and latent state of divine-proprium. People that have experienced near death (NDE’S, or near life/death experiences as I refer to them) situations may have animated this property from dormancy into vitality. Imagine immortality…
Who knows - enlightenment may be as simple as recognizing this potentiality, and miracle healings could be as straightforward as activating this immortal dynamic.
The movie is worth seeing - on DVD of course. It explains no more than it explores, but it’s an interesting conundrum to unravel.
Will you walk the world all the days of your life searching for the earth beneath your very feet - Tris.
